Virtual terminal sessions (Alt+Fx) properly work as long as X was not started. However, as soon as X starts, every VT screen goes black. Their display can only be restored by rebooting the computer.
Sometimes, randomly, the VT displays are not black, but instead present a couple of large vertical flickering bands of verious shades of grey. Computer is a VPCS13V9E Sony laptop running Debian/unstable. NVIDIA drivers version is 260.19.36. Anybody got ideas on how I could solve this? Thanks in advance!

New report with drivers version 270.26 attached. Still no progress on the issue. I admit I'm a little disappointed by the lack of support from the nvidia people...

HaloO,
I have recently attached a new monitor to my old Ubuntu Hardy Heron box. This is with good old nvidia driver 169.12! I had the same problem and solved it with the kernel option nomodeset. I hope that helps, TSa. |

A good idea, thanks. Unfortunately, nomodeset changed nothing to the outcome.
