Default Set Resfresh Rate of External Monitor

i'm using a Gentoo Linux system with a Quadro FX 570M Nvidia graphics chip and nvidia-settings-260.19.36. So far i was unsuccessful to set the Refresh Rate of an external Acer B193 monitor. The monitor could do 75Hz, but in Linux i am unable to set the Refresh Rate to anything different than 60Hz. I am using the Twinview mode.

In nvidia-settings the field in "X Server Display Configuration" where one could set the refresh rate of the monitors is grayed out. Setting those lines

Option "metamodes" "1280x1024_75 +0+0;"
SubSection "Display"
        Depth 24
        Modes "1280x1024_75.00"
in the Screen Section of xorg.conf also didn't help. How am I supposed to set the refresh rate of the external monitor?

I think you need to disable GPU scaling.
You find it in nvidia-settings somewhere.
I think it is in the CRT-0 section.
