Default Zotac MAG lockup

I've been having a problem with my Zotac MAG (running Ubuntu 10.10 with the NVidia proprietary driver) locking up randomly: it doesn't appear to be related to video directly, because some of the lockups occur when the machine is basically idle at the MythTV main menu.

I have already eliminated NVidia driver clock scaling and CPU clock scaling as variables. I'm also running the latest Zotac BIOS update.

I unfortunately have no idea how to debug this further: there is no serial port on the machine so I can't see whether there is kernel oops output... and of course there is nothing in the log. Any suggestions?
