How fast is your device on the standard network? Heres my Samsung Captivate with the latest modem update.
This is on AT&Ts 3G network. ![]() |

.27 down / .14 up
![]() Guess it's not a good time to test it.... D2 on Verizon. Pretty sure all of the towers in this area are still using T1s. Did a test by work and the best I've seen is 1.56 / .29 EDIT: Hmm.... apparently I might want to check something on my phone. Only pulling 2.72 / 2.96 using wifi. Switched to performance battery setting and down is 6mbps now, but didn't effect the 3G speeds much. How far away is the test server though? Cause the latency is horrid on your test. Even with the slow speeds I'm seeing 115ms - 160ms to the test server. |

Ouch. AT&T will feel like an entirely different network once it gets LTE. Drop those latencies to hopefully 100ms.
Had a person from Verizon out today and was able to chat with them about LTE a bit. Says they can see up to 45mbps testing and even more with full MIMO so he was optimistic about ~30mbps speeds in real world usage. I'd definitely take that with a grain of salt but even if it's 5mbps off the phone I'd be happy. Couldn't really get any info about latency but just what I've read on the internet says it should be improved some. |

Yea a friend just sent me a pic last night. 6 / 1 but still around 200ms latency. Had them test latency to my router and from my phone is avg 130ms and they are avg 170ms. When I get a chance I'm going to do a traceroute and see if I can find out how much the first hop is. I'm really hoping that LTE can get that number under 100ms, then I'll be happy.
EDIT: First hop is about 60ms. Then another 16ms just for wifi tether. Can't wait to see someone put up a test from an LTE phone. |
