Very frustrating and annoying...
Disable the real time component of your antivirus (AVG).
Thank you Rumm...I found a "temporally disable AVG protection" feature in AVG's "advanced options" which shuts AVG down completely for 5, 10 or 15mins. The game starts normally with AVG off and is not effected when it comes back on during game play. It is a bit of a PITA to disable AVG every time I have to start the game but at least I can play.

The game itself seems fun, nope not the mind blowing graphics of Crysis but imo a decent FPS. I can only judge a game by if I want to keep pushing on and if I'm enjoying myself....So far, so good.
My system is in the siggy. 1920x1200, very high settings(I don't like the lighting in "extreme"), I have no performance issues, Crysis 2 runs very smooth. I tried the demo when I had an ATI HD5950 in this setup and it also ran well at the same settings.

Edit:
Easier fix: add crysis2.exe to the AVG "exceptions list" found under the "advanced options". No more need mess with the AV every time the game is started....

Hummm didnt i read somewhere that NV had contributed 2.5 million to crytek to help them dev DX11 features for the PC version???? if so id be asking for my money back.......

i'll wait till they bother to patch it up or till it hits the magic 10 mark,i have far tomany games to play & little enough time to play them as it is and another city/hallway shooter with a short SP campaign doesnt rank high on my value for money list

You all can hate on Crysis 2 if you want. But it looks great, performs well, and is fun. Love it!

I got home yesterday from work all excited to fire it up only to discover that steam never pre-loaded it.

so I sat there watching it download all night long.

Side note: I also got assassin's creed brotherhood just in case Crysis 2 makes baby jesus cry, I can fire up AC2 to blow the stench out of the room.

Blame EA. They pushed out an unfinished product as usual.
I have a sneaky suspicion that this is what is really to blame here. We all saw that bioware had high res textures waiting to go right after release and I wouldn't be surprised if we see a massive patch for PC for crysis 2 with all the stuff that crytek said that the PC's would get that we currently don't have.

The main difference between crysis 2 and DA2 is that DA2 is just a bad game period and the only thing people are really complaining about in masses about C2 is dumbed down graphics.

Also, i don't buy into the whole lack of DX10/11 thing as a valid argument. Crysis 1's DX10 rendering slowed the game down and didn't add any extra substance visually that DX9 couldn't do.

I would have liked to see tesselation with DX11 rendering but from what I've read, that has to be programmed in at the beginning of development so if we see that, I'm holding my breath that it's not some half assed casually slap it on at the last minute type thing.

Having only played the demo though, I am at the end of the day, pretty bummed out when I go back and look at the E3 and GDC cryengine 3 demo videos showing what it's capable of and then getting only a fraction of that beauty and eye candy from the company's flagship product for the new engine.

DX9 or not looks great to me off those screen shots. Just because it doesn't use every bell and whistle the latest cards can throw at a game doesn't mean it's going to look bad.

Exactly. And all the GPU melting ultra high extreme platinum eddie bauer edition screen shots only mega realistic config files for crysis 1 all looked jaw dropping with DX9 rendering and we all loved it.

The game is buggy, really buggy. When you die and restart from the last checkpoint, the V key (Melee) doesnt work at all until you play for sometime. A quick fix is to quit the game to desktop then go back in, but i noticed my nano catalyst decreased when i do this. Why does the game steal my nano catalyst when i restart it? Thats nice. Also my number 1 key (Which is used to switch between weapons) started to become unresponsive while i was playing, i had to use mouse wheel to switch weapons.

Also when i was playing earlier my weapon and POV got slanted to one side after i got hit by an enemy. It went away after awhile though.

Overall its a good game, but some of these bugs really kill the experience. Especially when you are unable to perform simple functions like melee and switching weapons. Whats next? I cant fire my gun?

I like the game, and it doesn't look bad for DX9, but I am pissed that PC's got the shaft...again.
This is the first game EA has had anything to do with that has come out in the last year that I've bought that doesn't CTD. So that's a plus.
