So 2 will be sufficient then performance wise ? No temp issues with just 2 cards instead of 3 ?

Well, I'm back with a Nvidia card. Just got my PNY GTX 570 the other day. It's gotten my 2 1/2 year old self-built, that started with 2-4850's in Crossfire, back up to speed. Got tired of that whole Crossfire Profile thing. A lot of times they didn't come out until you've long finished a game. Wanted a single card solution this time because the two 4850's ran so friggin hot, my computer sounded like a vacuum cleaner. This 570 is really quiet. I was so paranoid about it, I even reopened the case just to make sure the fan was spinning. One thing though, the card is huge, I actually had a tough time getting it in this huge old Alienware case I'm using.

I'm no one's fanboy. I'll use whomever is the best solution at the time. I started out with Nvidia TNT2, then went for some 3DFX Voodoo cards, then back with Nvida's GeForce3, then to ATI for few cards, ending with the 4850's. Now I'm back to Nvidia. Oh, I almost forgot the Matrox Milllenium II that was hot for about 1 generation.

I'll visit and lurk often. I won't post much, because I'm pretty self sufficent and don't like to waste anyone's time posting nonsense.

Been PC gaming a long time as it say's in my signature. Not counting all Nintendo and Atari gaming before that. Turn 60 in a couple of months, now how many hardcore gamers do you know in their 60's...really?....LOL

Hey, posting on here doesn't mean your wasting everyone's time. That's the whole point, more the merrier. Constructive and fun nonsense is what it's all about.

By the time i'm 60 i'll be enslaved in a chinese labour camp, enjoying lung cancer, too old to play Kinect virtual reality etc

If it wasn't for Dr Oz (yes, "the" Dr Oz) giving me a quadruple bypass when I was 54, I wouldn't have seen 56. Keep on truckin brother.

I guess maybe I meant, at 60, "I" don't have time to waste...

Well I finally upgraded the GTX260 to a GTX570SC. Amazing difference in speed and I can actually play BC2 and Metro without it feeling laggy or turning down the settings! Rift actually looks a little more "3D"ish? I thought I was imaging it until my wife walked in and said the same thing. I wonder what could be behind that?

I have to admit it however, there is a part of me kicking myself for not just doing the Gigabyte GTX560 SOC and saving the extra cash.

Nice! But I got to say the GTX570 combined with my Q9650 still running at 3.0GHz, continues to have me playing everything cranked up to the max, smooth as silk. I upgraded the cooling just so I could eventually OC this system to 3.8 or 4GHz but I haven't even seen the need for it, that's still down the road yet. Getting my money's worth out of the Q9650 that's for sure.

Got a stock PNY 570 for $305 after $30 rebate a couple weeks ago. It's certainly louder and more power hungry than my previous stock 260. I just didn't want to spend another $205 to get the 580 with just 1.5GB. My particular board only gets to ~840 at 1.0v ... 850 will eventually crash after an extended amount of time (hours). I would have had a harder decision if stock-cooler 3GB 580s were available. I read that some will show up around June.
