From 256.44 to current beta(270.26), there is not a single version that can work with this system. The kernel module always gets crashed when Xorg is starting.
Acer AS4741G 432G32Mn With Latest BIOS(1.28), Ubuntu 10.10 amd64 Linux dword-as4741g 2.6.38-7-generic #37~lucid1-Ubuntu SMP Mon Mar 21 17:49:49 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux (Other kernel wont work neither) Geforce GT330M with K4W1G1646E x 8 (Total 1GB GDDR3) 02:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: nVidia Corporation GT216 [GeForce GT 330M] [10de:0a29] (rev a2) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Acer Incorporated [ALI] Device 0370 Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 16 Memory at cc000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M] Memory at d0000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M] Memory at ce000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=32M] I/O ports at 2000 [size=128] [virtual] Expansion ROM at cd000000 [disabled] [size=512K] Core i5 430M + HM55 Chipset. Switchable Graphics is NOT supported by this machine. 1366x768 Panel with LVDS connection. VGA and HDMI output available. A PS8101 HDMI/DVI level shifter chip was found. Crash log was once dumped, but has been deleted. I am not willing to reproduce one. Now using nouveau, GPU hangs up every 1min to 2 days. |

No responses or even excuses?
I thought nVidia was a big company. |

Nouveau is a reverse engineered driver so it is very common for it to lock up the GPU.
I've been quite upset these days as it has almost ruined my work. And I have to finish a report before tomorrow. 46 min is not short at all. In big forums the should be several replies within 5 mins. I am getting support from nvidia's official technical support page. It takes me some time to notice the link in the bottom of the page. So administrators, you can lock this thread if it is needed. |
