MSI GTX 580 twin frozer II

Getting a larger taxrefund than expected and the first thing (naturally

) i thought of was a new gfx card. As i understand it the 580's draw marginally more power than my current 470 so do you guys think i'll be ok with my current corsair 650w PSU ?

I don't see why this wouldn't work with your psu. Does your motherboard have an extra power connection for your psu?

Not sure what you mean DD but here's a link to both the PSU and the mobo

The psu has dual 6/8 pin PCIE connectors.

hell thats nice. But I would get Asus DirectCUII model If I were You. They are quiet and very fast. I might get one this summer

Thats more expensive and has features i don't really need like bios switching etc plus the fact that it is a 3 slot sollution (would interfeer with the soundcard).

Msi is releasing their version called N580GTX lightning that's also aimed at the overclocker , with independant voltage control, military spec hardware and a redesigned pcb etc etc. That has already hit 1050 mhz on the gpu (834 mhz standard) with stock cooling but as i said it isn't anything i'm interested in. I have an older quad and tbh there isn't much point in getting a even more overclockable gfx card without a 4ghz+ cpu imo.

I looked at the pics of your board, and it doesn't have an extra plugin for your psu. Sorry....

It has the standard 24 pin Eatx and a 8 pin ATX12v if that's what you mean
