Bought this - getting it set up at the moment. I wound up going for a little lower on the specs, but so far very happy with it.

Thanks guys.

Whoa! That's a nice deal.

Did you load Ubuntu on it yet?

Seriously though... some good deals out there. Almost makin' me want to fork out the cash to get my laptop working.

Curious how it'll perform once you get that SSD in there. I know in general laptop parts are slower than their desktop counter parts... but I'd imagine with an SSD in that you'd be hard-pressed to see a difference in performance, save for when you're gaming.

Let us know how the "conversion" for you goes. Modern mobile parts pack quite a punch compared to a few short years ago.

that doesn't look low on the specs at all. Should play those classic Source-based games you love so much, like HL2 and the very good HL2: Lost Coast

Haven't installed any games yet - been ripping the heart out of the bloatware lately

This 5400 rpm drive is much more responsive than I thought it would be, so I'll get it nice and clean and use it for a backup install. The only thing I've found I really don't like is the touchpad, but I knew that before buying.

I may install a couple of games later today just to see how they play. This i7 quad is quite the little performer, but it does it without bob's drama.....

EDIT: Doesn't even break a sweat with L4D and 2xMSAA

RE_EDIT: SSD installed - no complaints at all. Very happy with this choice.
