Only if you disable it's built in protection and pump more electricity through it. We know that's dangerous because it voids your warranty on every 6990 except one, and you said so yourself a few posts up.

Legit Reviews:

Benchmark Results: Furmark had the AMD Radeon HD 6990 dominating the ASUS GeForce GTX 590, but it looks like NVIDIA crippled the driver on purpose so the card doesn't get damaged by this benchmark.

Verify please, it would be unfortunate if someone bought an ATi card and had to watch textures crawl due to undersampling like all the other ATi customers have been doing.

Personally I think ATi did this to make the 6870 look better than it is for reviews.

The problem has been fixed for a while now.

It wasn't due to undersampling, or rather it was due to undersampling, on NVs side. The fix was to do the same undersampling NV was doing, bluring the lines between mip map layers. ATI was using the proper directx defined method, with a sharper texture, but the sharper texture was causing the shimmer. You can try this yourself but cranking up the quality on NV cards to max and it will get the same shimmer. There was a huge thread at B3D about it.

I'd still like a link to something that says it is fixed beyond some users on another forum, that just happens to have been owned by a guy that ended up working for ATi PR.

AFAIK this hasn't been fixed, and ATi cards still shimmer.

Wow, it's much more relevant to see an ATi fan rant dubbed over a Hitler video that everyone has seen dubbed over about 800 times before!

Maybe I should go dub over the Hitler video and make him say things like:

"We did tell them 5 years ago we would beat them at GPU accelerated physics, but at least NVIDIA never got that working!" (and then when the guy tells him he would clear the room and start to yell!)

It's ALWAYS funny to see fanboy rants dubbed on the Hitler video! It NEVER gets old! I look forward to the NEXT 800 times I see this!

I am still dissapointed in both cards ,why could'nt they add a extra 8 pin power plug ,so that it would have plenty of power ,most people who can aford a GTX 590 or a HD 6990 already have a power supply with three 8 pin PCIe power plugs.They already new the spec's were going to be over the limmit any way.Plus they know people are going to what to over clock it to get the most out of it since two GTX 570's in SLI is faster and cost less. I will just stick with my three GTX 470's even tho I would love to have just one card like the GTX 590 but only if it had enough power to really run it all out.And as of cooling it, they could have made it three slots with two fans over it .Just my opinion.

Both cards have there strengths and weaknesses. In the end they are about the same with there pluses and minuses.
