Brink is not a bad game at all. It reminds me of TF2 more than any other game. It plays smooth as silk and I haven't found a glitch yet. It is very team based and the whole game revolves around achieving the objectives.

I'm glad Homefront turned out to be a great game even though the reviews tried really hard to make it look bad - honestly not every game has to be exactly COD or BF.

I could see this one heading there and not pulling out. Looks like I was right.
ATi has already released 11.5a to fix brink issues...CAP will most likely come out by the end of the week.

not sure how its ati's fault when the dev is too busy with the console version...

The bad reviews are mainly from console reviewers who played the xbox360 version. I'm not saying that their opinions aren't valid, it's just it seems like they were ready for a CoD type game not an Enemy Territory / TF2 / Mirror's Edge love child.

I've seen some pretty good reviews on the PC version so far, other than negatives about a few bugs and performance issues that are inherent with most new games.

Metacritic seems pretty mixed atm with a 6.5/10, but there is a lot of positive comments.

Eurogamer seems to be enjoying it, they gave it an 8/10

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...0-brink-review

Videogamer.com gave it an 8/10 as well.

http://www.videogamer.com/pc/brink/review-3.html

gamrReview gave it an 8.2 out of 10.

http://gamrreview.vgchartz.com/review/34912/brink/

gamerfront gave it an 88/100.

http://www.gamefront.com/brink-review/

gamesradar gave the xb360 version an 8/10.

http://www.gamesradar.com/xbox360/br...1331493062/p-2

There are plenty of good reviews out there. The game has it's faults, but it's new and many are enjoying it. If you like fast paced close quarters slaughterfests with the avenue of parkour style vaulting antics at your disposal, then Brink is an awesome game IMHO.

If I wanted to play a military simulation I'd go play Arma II.

This game fills a void that I've been trying and failing to fill for a few years now. Fast paced FPS fun. I've tried Aliens vs Predator, Blacklight Tango Down, Shattered Horizon and Crysis 2 Multiplayer in my search. This game seems to have done it for me.

If Red Orchestra 2 lives up to my WW2 battlefield expectations, then I will be totally fulfilled in the multiplayer FPS department for the coming years.

Here's two more reviews.

http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2011/05/10/review-brink/
9/10

http://www.incgamers.com/Reviews/1180/brink-review

8.8/10

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/re...d-brink/713695

7.9/10 from a console reviewer

As for that 1up review, well... It's 1up lol. A poster on the Steam Forums said it best.

Quote:
That 1up review is embarrassing. Not for BRINK, but for the reviewer. He comes across as a completely clueless toolbag. I hope I NEVER wind up on that dude's team.

"Capture that post so we can get a health boost."
"Why bother. I'll just get shot at."
"Open up another route to the objective."
"Why bother. They both lead to the same place."
"Help with the objective."
"Why bother. They'll just try to kill me."
"Dude, why'd you bother buying this game?"
Here's a user commenting on the IGN review.

Quote:
Straight up though, the IGN reviewer is an idiot. "I was often confused when I couldn't drop a turret only to remember I was a Soldier, a class with a different set of skills."

Not only do you have to unlock and purchase the turret, but its painfully obvious when you are NOT AN ENGINEER. The fact these people get paid to be stupid is a serious problem.
Just because IGN's console reviewer is such a burn-out that he can't remember what class he currently is, doesn't mean the game is a flop.

I mean, I get skills for each class via advancement points. I can then hotkey them to my number buttons. This is the first time the number buttons on my Razer Naga have been useful in a FPS other than for ARMA II squad management and vehicle commands. Usually in a FPS, number hotkeys are only used for switching to another weapon.

Watching a stream of somebody playing while my copy is still downloading... I think I might love this game before I even play it... this dude is trying out the grenade launcher and grenades aren't amazing. I HATE games that are just splash damage fests. Main reason I quit BC2.

Game is fun. But horribly broken right now. Went on, tried to join a multiplayer server... it wouldn't so I figured I would play a little singleplayer... I kid you not, it told me the connection was interrupted when the map loaded for SINGLEPLAYER. WTF? So then I played challenge mode... fun, but I would like to play online :\.
