Nope, no Linux 3D stereo support. ( read my post above )

Then, when I'm reading the NVIDIA driver release pages, I should not pay attention to things like this.

•Added support for NVIDIA 3D Vision Stereo on Linux with Quadro GPUs. See the "Stereo" X configuration documentation in the README

Version: 195.36.15 Certified
Release Date: 2010.03.19
Operating System: Linux
Language: English (U.S.)
File Size: 32.3 MB

I am trying to grasp how to get 3D support for Blu-Ray and non 3D Blu-Ray sources on my Ubuntu HTPC.

pay better attention, it says Quadro cards, and none of your enumerated cards are a Quadro cards but GeForce cards, right?

I have an OpenGL program working with the 3D Vision setup on my Samsung 2233RZ monitor under Linux and the 256.44 drivers. I now have a Viewsonic PJD6531w projector that I am trying to get to work. I can get the stereo to work in Windows 7 x64, but there are problems under Linux.

If I use a DVI to HDMI cable, I cannot get the projector to get a lower resolution than 1280x800. The Linux driver says it is setting 1024x768 (or 1280x720 or 1280x768), but the projector always reports 1280x800. It is always going into "optimum resolution" for the projector regardless of what the Linux driver says in Xorg.0.log. I can set higher resolutions, and the projector will accept them, but nothing lower than 1280x800.

If I use a VGA cable, I can set the projector at 1024x768@120 or 1280x720@120, and the projector changes colors and goes darker like it does when it goes into stereo mode, and the emitter goes bright green when I put my application into stereo mode, but the actual picture does not converge with the glasses - like something somewhere along the line is not actually in stereo mode. Will there be further updates for this projector under Linux ?

I was about to update my aged GeForce 8800GTX to a GTX590 but what do I have to read:

NO support for 3D under Linux - I mean real 3D not flat 3D.

Come on Guys we have 2011.

Crippled GPGPU performance - throttled to 1/4.

AMD does a far better Job in this respect.

Conclusion: I won't buy nVidia any more, after buying a RivaTNT, GeForce 256, 6800GTX, 8800GTX - heck, I'm upgrading my graphics cards twice as often as my computers.

Best regards,
drmah
