Well honestly, it's what DX9 games should look like for the PC. We have just been used to below par ports with meh textures.

The console-ish GUI design was the first thing I noticed and disliked about this game. When I heard it was being ported to consoles I wasn't surprised just look at the horrible non PC like GUI. Just by the way the (control key) quick option screen is designed it's obvious they were porting it to consoles. I think the GUI was significantly better in Witcher 1. Everything was accessible to you in one spot. You opened up the interface you could select from the menu what you wanted to see, Journal, inventory, stats, etc... No need to exit the current part you are viewing now to view another area, you just had to press the hotkey or select it from the menu. The current Witcher 2 if I am in inventory and want to check the journal, I can't just press J, I have to exit inventory back into the game then press J to access it. For a PC game it's a horrible design, but it's fine for consoles as they don't have a lot of buttons they can map.
Still with all it's flaws it still feels like a proper Witcher game. Unlike DA2, where the epic-ness of DA:O was lost to their flawed "let's hope they don't notice we are repeatedly reusing everything" design. DA2 felt like a fan made as a mod with professional voice acting. A 2-3 person team, doing their best to make a new game in the same universe as DA:O but reusing a lot of their level designs to reduce their work load. If DA2 was a mod, I would give them a lot of respect, but for a full bioware sequel, it was extremely disappointing.

Started playing with my wired 360 controller...it's surprisingly good with the controller.
It does make it feel like a 360 game, except for the awesome graphics, even the open/dialogs and such show a blue X (as on the controller) instead of a mouse button. I find it more enjoyable for some reason. |

Well, I don't like the graphics settings that are outside of the game, that feels tacked on and cheap.

Patch has been officially released. Also, the retail version is now DRM-Free
