Question GT520 VDPAU deinterlacing options

Does the new GT520 support all the VDPAU deinterlacing options, including advanced?

Basically, I want to know if the GT520 is at least as good as the GT220 when it comes to VDPAU performance. My GT220 works well, but I would like to add DTS-MA support, which I believe the GT520 offers?

Thanks,

John

I got a GT520 running, if you tell me how to check it i can tell you

(although with all the problems @ 270.xx drivers around here you might want to stick with your GT220, for now^^)

Thank you for the offer.

If you could post the results from the VDPAU info tool:

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=124978

That would probably tell me all I need to know.

Thanks!

John

Note that vdpauinfo may be available via your distribution. For example, under Fedora I was able to install via yum:

Code:
yum install vdpauinfo

On the mythtv mailing lists, one user reported that his GT520 was unable to cope with "Advanced/2X" deinterlacing. The GT220 handles that just fine.

Thanks Mark.

I'm not so sure, though. The 520 is more or less identical to the GT218 aka "Ion2", and I know first-hand that the Ion2 I have here gives silky-smooth Advanced/2X playback. But without "vdpauhqscaling" -- can't handle both at the same time.

For a discrete card, the 430 still looks the current best all round performer. Now we just need a fanless 5xx version of it to appear.

How can it be "more or less identical" when it is a completely different architecture and a newer revision of the pure video engine? They are two completely different gpus.

The title of this thread is "GT520 VDPAU deinterlacing options", and according to the vdpautest tool, the GT219 GPU on the 520 performs just about identically to the GT218 GPU on the Ion2.

Until the vdpau api is updated for the additional capabilities of vdpau feature set D I doubt you will see any difference.
