That was a very satisfying game, the best I've played in a long time (and hands-down better than DA2). Aside from the learning curve, and the occasional bit of background knowledge the game assumes you have but actually don't, it's also the best put-together game I've played in years. The game world itself was tightly crafted, the technical execution played to the engine's strengths while avoiding its weaknesses, the characters and your interactions with them were extremely memorable (my favorite moment in the game is sitting with Dwarves in Vergen's Inn, swapping stories - that just felt natural) and the story was excellent.
Definitely a strong contender for game of the year. Studying Witcher 2's design should be mandatory for all RPG developers (glares at Bioware).

Somebody should fix my crashing issues so I can play this... really enjoying it, but starting at the end of the first chapter, the game crashes on me every 5 minutes or so... sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more... REALLY would like to spend tomorrow playing it :\.

Did anyone have problems with quests that lead you in a direction to talk to NPC's and there's nobody there?
I am on Chapter 2 and I had to go talk to Dandelion and he wasn't at the spot where he was showing on the quest marker. I ended up finding him in the Inn. Even worse, I am supposed to talk to the towns people about some stuff and there's nobody to talk to at the marker destinations. |

Finished it yesterday. Best game of the year so far, a little ahead of Dead Space 2 for me. Will be tough to knock it down but plenty of contenders. Truly impressed with the decisions that effect quests, monsters locations. Thought the story was great and it ended well enough even though chap 3 and prologue were brief. Certainly 1 and 2 were the best chapters and make up the bulk of the game. I just love the area around flotsam but the quests in Vergen were probably better. I might pick up the collectors edition now.

No quest arrows showing direction about 20% of the time. Exit game and restart they're there. - this happened 4 or 5 times so far. Formulas disappearing from inventory. Once so far, emptied my formulas completely. NPC no shows as you mentioned. Monsters disappearing in the middle of a battle - several times on this one now. Monsters turning their backs in battle and just standing there. Easy kills I guess, so far just nekkars and drowners. All little bugs except for the kayran - it won't let me kill it. ![]() |

Just curious - you folks who beat the kayran, how many times did you die before beating it?
This has to be the hardest boss I've ever fought, I must have gone down 40 times so far, playing on normal difficulty, sometimes right near the end of the fight going by it's health bar. I sure hope the bosses don't get any harder from here. This is brutal. |
