Most updates they do are previously jailbreak ideas. Did you see they hired a jailbreak dev?

Agreed. I was afraid it was going to cost (subscription) but Apple made the right move to make this free.

I have yet to put iPhoto in use on my MBP since I use Lightroom/Photoshop all the time. So I guess the "photo in the cloud" part doesn't apply to me.
