Fedora released Firefox 5.0 along with a recompiled Gnome Shell that linked against js instead of xulrunner.
The end result is that gnome-shell will not start. I can downgrade to the older gnome-shell, gjs, firefox, and xulrunner packages as a workaround for the time being. Using the nouveau driver, I can use the latest packages without a problem. When using the NVIDIA driver I get the following from gnome-shell: Code:
(gnome-shell:3985): Clutter-CRITICAL **: Unable to initialize Clutter: Unable to find suitable fbconfig for the GLX context Window manager error: Unable to initialize Clutter. gnome-shell-3.0.2-3.fc15 gjs-0.7.14-6.fc15 firefox-5.0-1.fc15 xulrunner-5.0-2.fc15 Affected NVIDIA drivers: 270.41.19 275.09.07 |

A +1 from me here.
Using the nouveau driver for now... Honestly, is there still any *real* advantage in using the NVIDIA binary drivers anymore?! They've been the sole source of my Linux problems lately... ![]() |

People on the Fedora mailing list have reported that 3.0.2-4 from testing has solved the problem. I never experienced the issue (looks like another 64 bit problem?). I've been running 3.0.2-4 for a few hours now and I'm not experiencing any issues.
Check the Fedora mailing list for the link to the testing package. /mde/ |
