Rollo, just remember the low yields that Nvidia was getting with the gtx 480's before production to retail. Then all of a sudden they became the single gpu to get.
BTW Roadhog, why should I pay an extra $60-100 for 3rd party software when my manufacturer makes updates for me for free? I am referring to stuff like tridef 3d vs nvidia's updates. Leaving your 3d api to outside partners is a big mistake in my book unless AMD is getting licensing fees for such. And I remember right tridef 3d also supports 3d vision so that's out of the question. And Tridef supports as many games as nvidia's 3d vision native support so for me I wouldn't bother with tridef for an Nvidia solution anyhow. Slawter, I wouldn't never question SNB-E, it WILL Kick ass over all CPU's, that I know. But I know FX will give SNB a run for it's money.

this is the main reason I debated this subject. I don't think multimonitor gaming can be done (meaning it can handle it) on one gpu. Now I am not doing mm gaming, but I were, it would be done on a dual gpu or mutli-gpu(meaning more than one card) setup ,regardless of AMD or NV. All I can say is by Christmas when intel brings pci-e 3.0 to market along with NV and AMD graphics, they better be coming with at least 3gb per gpu. Because if games that are from 2010 like Metro 2033 can eat up 2.5gb of vram then on mm setups, what do you expect will come about by Christmas this year? And since AMD hasn't announced PCI 3.0 chipsets yet, so that is why I was considering pci-e 2.0 3gb for my future as a possible solution.

I don't think that Sapphire demo of 3d Surround is a commercially available product, I could find no review of it. As far as those Zalman monitors go, I did find the calibration of dodgy 3rd party software necessary, the glare, and the loss of half of your horizontal resolution make that a less than optimal 3d path. I think we both know 1GB cards in Crossfire aren't a relevant solution for multimonitor gaming, which happens at 50X10, 57X10, 57X12, and 75X16. I started at 1.5GB because that will handle 95% of 50X10 and 57X10 4X AA gaming, which is probably 95%+ of surround gaming.

well Rollo, here is your proving grounds on sli on 990fx and a 1100t to be precise vs. a z68 and a core i5 sandy bridge. Just remember, I bought the 990fx for the last sentence in the review.

btw, here's a review of my current mb. Sucks they don't do sli comparison for this one.
http://www.pureoverclock.com/article1305.html edit: the motherboard does not have two nic's for teaming like in the article. I do like that the manual actually shows how to enable Dolby Home Theatre (realtek's comeback to Creative's CMSS-3D) on the realtek hd audio. Tried the HD audio and realtek has what creative uses as rear speakers in 5.1 are side speakers in the realtek codec.

Also, while I didn't test those games for my assertions of lesser scaling (I think I used the FC2 and Just Cause 2 bench) you need to look at the lower benches on AMD in general. I think I was not as specific as I should have been: AMD equals lower minimums, lower fps, and sometimes lower scaling due to limiting very high end graphics.
