Well there's still no release date set. Many reports say "Autumn 2011" so any time between September and December (assuming they stick to it). The content is what takes the longest to produce, and that's already done and available. So I don't see why pumping out a port that quickly isn't possible.

It is strange though we get a PC release on a game that doesn't sell very well, and we don't get one on a game that sells very well (i.e. RDR). Red Dead sold almost 7 million copies as of September 2010. Makes sense to me that they'd pump out a PC port to recoup some losses on L.A. Noire.

Not really sure...i was watching an interview on gamespot with one of the producers/lead dev who made L.A. Noire and they asked him will it be coming out on the PC, and he said something along the lines, he does not know but it can be done easy enough and port it.

He also made a comment something along the lines they don't make much money with PC games, because it ends up being pirated

So you're saying it can be done quickly? I mean, they must make some money on it.

Yeah I would imagine I guess he was saying at the time when it was being released PC was not on table..since they don't make much money and focused only on console. But now that it has been out they can focus on the PC port.

I'd say it's 'easy' because of the ground work Rockstar put in doing the GTAIV port.

They got 1.45 million sales.

Something tells me L.A. Noire was expensive to make too.
L.A. Noire cost $50m to made but I am not sure if that is the whole $50m Rockstars paid for the development or $30m from Rockstars plus $20m from Sony Computer Entertainment spend on then cancelled the project in 2006 and sold it to Rockstars.

L.A. Noire now approached 3 million sales on both Xbox 360 and PS3 after 5 weeks, grossed around $176m.

Sales have still been lower than Rockstar predicted unfortunately. :: My guess PC version is to try and sell some more, but also keep the game in the press, across all platforms.

I don't really mind switching between 3 screens and 1 screen for cutscenes. Generally because in most games that allow for triple wide cutscenes (i.e. Mafia 2), the cutscenes are glitchy as hell on the side monitors. You see huge clipping issues and characters and objects spawning in and out on the side monitors because the developers didn't account for people viewing these scenes with such a huge FoV.

Console gamers were too dumb to solve the cases. *Hides*
