Default New Build (another Sabertooth P67 + 2600K)

New Parts:
-Asus Sabertooth P67
-8GB Ripjaw 1600Mhz DDR3 (2x4GB)
-i7 2600K
-128GB Crucial C300 SSD
- Frio HSF

Old Parts:
- x2 ATI 5850's
- HAF 922 Case

Note 1: I couldn't overclock at all with 4 of my old Dominator DDR3 1600Mhz 2GB modules in. This Mobo may be somewhat unstable for OC'ing with all 4 slots filled. My Dominator RAM was on the Asus 'good' list... I didn't want to run off only 4GB for awhile so I just put my case to the side and used my laptop while the Ripjaw was on the way.

Note 2: I got the Frio cooler for $40, almost got a hydro cooler but I'm still not sure I trust them long term. My max temps hit after one hour are 72 degrees with it staying mostly around 67 on all cores (at 4.5Ghz). I believe I'm all good and saved $80 by not getting the H70 I was looking hard at. Freaking Frio is a boat though.

Note 3: I'm getting tired of those 5850's but both in crossfire still edge out a GTX570 slightly (depending). So I think I'll wait another year or more before going to a new GPU. I guess x2 5850's are worth a single $500 card right now. As long as I can max out the Witcher and come close in the new Elder Scrolls, I'll be happy.

I just lowered my new Ripjaw memory to 1333Mhz for now to rule it out if I had a failure and only changed the multiplier to 45. I didn't touch anything else (stock voltage and all). So far Prime95 has run for an hour without an error. Holy cow was this easy.... I'm a happy dude.

I haven't had time to straighten my case out yet. I may not even go back in there for awhile. With the temps I'm not even sure if I care about cleaning up my case further.

Nice setup. I like the red LED fans... just looks neat.

I should really over haul my rig. Hate to confess this but it's kinda' a mess right now- dusty as all get out, cables unorganized. I should just re-do it entirely. Still got that aftermarket HSF I need to install as well.

Maybe one of these days in the near future I'll commit the time to just doing a rebuild of my system- cleaning everything, meticulous wire management... all that jazz.

Thanks. I actually changed out those fans today. The front and top 200mm fans were only $19 at a local Fry's. The rear Antec 120mm was $14. I've been noticing for a couple of years that a lot of things at Fry's are a tiny bit cheaper than Newegg. On the way in the door today they were passing out these little paper ad things that said they would match any Internet price.

I've done 4 hours on Prime95 @4.5Ghz with the memory back at 1600Mhz. I did also discover that 4.5Ghz is the most I can do on stock voltage. I'm tempted to see how far I can go but I think I'll just be happy with the 4.5Ghz.

Awesome rig! Welcome to the second gen of Core i7! You'll find it quite enjoyable. The Sabertooth is becoming very popular. It's my favorite mobo yet, here's hoping Sabertooth X79 is similar overall.
