sometimes when playing videos with mplayer + vdpau and switching to fullscreen and back to normal size, X11 is unresponsive for some seconds and mplayer hangs even when x11 is responsive again....
Xorg.0.log has this line after this happend nvLock: client timed out, taking the lock i tried to backtrace the cause with export VDPAU_NVIDIA_DEBUG=3 export VDPAU_TRACE=1 and this are two outputs when i watch a video in mplayer that lock mplayer ... i use nvidia-drivers-260.19.12 |

Thanks for the report. Can you please try 260.19.21. Also, can you please provide an nvidia-bug-report; see the forum sticky posts. Thanks.

this error still happens - it use kde 4.6 with composite enabled - when i disable composite the error is gone - i also reported the error at the kde bugs tracker and
one of the kwin developers means its a context switching problem related to the nvidia bin driver .... here is the link to the post ... https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=265342 |

the error still happens with nvidia-drivers 270.41.03 ...
would be really nice if someone from nvidia would look at this annoying bug ... it seems people from nvidia just ignore bugs that seem to be hard to fix .... Stephen Warren please answer and tell me if there is allready someone from nvidia trying to fix this bug... with kind regards |

Bug not fixed with driver 280.13-1
The workaround is to use mplayer -fs option and never switch back to window mode. |

Or unchecking the option to disable desktop effects for fullscreen windows. Turning on effects while vdpau is being used seems to have an extremely high chance of triggering this bug.

I didn't know this option. I found out what does it mean here : https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=177495 Another workaround is to use mplayer2 which doesn't suffer from this bug. |
