A desktop however, is not a closed solution. Excluding preconfigured machines, the vendor doesn't decide what's in there, you do. And you can be sure as hell there will be motherboards that aren't limited to Synergy. |

Can we buy a driver from Nvidia? Seriously my laptop which I paid quite a bit for is essentially worthless to me. I feel like shaking my fist at it and saying "what man would want you now?" I would be willing to pay for a driver that works with linux. Name a price. I need it in a month.

If you said "I've paid quite a bit" in reference to optimus laptop then you don't have that amount of money for buying driver from nVidia... unless it was whole cargo ship of optimus laptops then maybe you have the money that is needed.

Great. It's a pitty you don't tell to the public 'PROBABLY YOU WILL NOT HAVE 3D ON NEW LAPTOP WITH NVIDIA !'
I suppose I will change my brand new Toshiba maybe in two years. I'm sure I'll search new hardware WITHOUT your GPU. R. |

I'm planning on getting a netbook sometime in the next few months, and even though I would like to get one with the ION 2, this whole optimus mess means that I'll probably be going for one with an AMD e-350 instead. I really hope nvidia fixes this, sometime in the future... |

Y yes! Cuz I can no haz OPTIMUZZ I tell otherz taht I must haz AMD!
Taht wull maek Nvidia 2 fix tis ting, rhatid? Cuz tey no can do 2 relese me 2 AMD laptaps. Seriously. I'm getting sick and tired of this silly "ha-ha, I'm a paying customer and if you won't do what's told I will start buying stuff from the rivalry company" talk. I wonder why Nvidia does not choose to invent the optimus inside the GPU but instead choose to integrate with Intel IGP causing OS incompatibility, writing extra driver code and what is this??? having two different drivers Intel and Nvidia in the system? I do not believe this is a simple clean design. Integrate power saving inside the GPU, use the 3d power when opengl call is detected. If not at least be like ATI, having one integrated Nvidia and one discrete Nvidia in the system. |
