kb9963 keyboard problem

I connected a compaq kb9963 keyboard to my noncompaq computer and everything works except the 8 buttons at top of keyboard.

Can anyone tell me how to get them working. I do see the listing of what they are supposed to do but nothing happens when the button is pressed.

they seem to be multimedia buttons. have you tried installing keyboard drivers?
