Default Quad head nv420

Hey all,
I've recently gotten a dell workstation computer with a single nv420 quadro and the 4 way display port cable. I'm going completely nuts trying to get xorg to output to 4 displays connected via passive dp>hdmi adaptors. the nvidia driver cannot retrieve edid info from any of the attached screens, but I've managed to get a single screen running by using a manually defined modeline along with the full array of options for disabling modeline validation. Can anyone give me a clue as to what a valid xorg config for running this card in 4 head mode looks like?

Afaict the card presents as two GPUs, and I've managed to get an image on ports 1 and 3 before, but I just don't understand how to address the second display on each gpu.
