Anywho I'm just glad I was able to assist.

Well he ordered it all yesterday, sometime next week I will put it together, homework dependent an all that. What benchmarks would you prefer to see.

Sweet!

Hmm... well, probably mostly just try out the games he's looking to play. Find what settings work best in them.

There's the standard 3D Mark, Furmark, etc. But all that could get very time consuming. I'd just stick with the titles he'll be playing and see what you can run them at.

I guess for myself, since I'm contemplating that exact card or waiting on the 7 series, games like the new AvP using DX11, Metro 2033 using DX11, Crysis 2 w/ DX11 and the High-Res texture pack, Dead Space 2... pretty curious how that card would handle those games. And if he's gaming at 1080 that's pretty close to my res of 1920x1200 so I'd likely get near identical performance if I picked that card up.

Thanks bro. Looking forward to the final build.

Whats the normal temp for the 1100t, it seems to hover around 42c.

I'm thinking about throwing some AS5 I have laying around after WoW is done.

That doesn't look half bad bro. That's a mid-ATX case, right? Wiring probably wont get much better without at least some minor modification to the case itself.

As to the normal temp- not sure. You do have the stock cooler on though. I would *definitely* use AS5 over the stock thermal grease for certain.

Kinda' diggin' the performance of that card. *REALLY* tempted to grab one my self. I just can't decide what to do- hold out for the 7 series from AMD or go for that card. This 4870 is really a blessing even considering its age.

Overall, what are your impressions of the rig's performance? Feel pretty solid? Curious cause the reviews seem to favor that CPU and I've contemplated getting one or two to upgrade some rigs for a friend.

Thanks!

I think I will swap it out to AS5 tomorrow, as its late. I am taking it to work so he can take it home and play, so my lunch project can be putting the AS5 on.

I haven't had much time playing with it, but so far its seems solid and quick, been busy with other projects and home work at the same time.

I want to get one of the 1100t for myself now, so I'm going to start watching the prices, I was going to awhile back but something happened, once i get one i plan on using my current CPU for a media center that I am thinking about building. I have heed that the 1100t's are great for video encoding.

He will get some use out of it this weekend, heck he may not even sleep. I think he's going to load some MW on it, so I will update after the weekend.

Again thanks for your input.

Spoke with him again today, he's loving it.

Wow is running on ultra and seems to hover around 40-60fps, it drops when he starts recording with fraps though, but its still playable...

Well, FRAPs dropping could be a number of things. I know you can set the FPS when recording and if it's set to, say 30, it'll drop the FPS to 30 while recording. Could also be too much over head, a number of different possibilities.

At least it plays all his games well. Glad he's happy with the build. Should last him qutie a while.
