Sandy Bridge E benchmarks are out, be prepare for extremely disappointment, SNB-E did not offer up to 65% performance boost in synthetic tests and no performance boost in gaming tests.

If you own mainstream Sandy Bridge Core i7-2600K, Stick with it. Upgrade to SNB-E is worthless!

Now we have to wait for Bulldozer games benchmarks to see how well it perform.

Maybe there'll be a better equipped revision down the road but at that point, waiting for Ivy Bridge and/or Ivy Bridge E makes more sense.

Looks like Intel messed this one up big time. Their own competition is too tough.

Yeah... still very pleased with my X58 rig. Hoping I can do a small upgrade in a couple months through work... new mobo and i7 970... if not I'm not sweating. Very pleased as is and see no reason to look towards X79.

Kinda what I expected. The only reason to go for SNB-E is for 6 core really. 4 cores just don't make use of the bandwidth. It's not a bad platform by any means... only you can get practically the same performance for much less money.

Until games use more than 4 cores effectively, don't expect this to change anytime soon so the toms hardware results don't surprise me in the least, and i'll even state the same for ivy bridge and it's potential 8 core variants....If 6 cores aren't being used in sandy bridge E relative to gaming, then it's even worse for 8 core processors and game environments...

Meh it's better to have to many then too few. My X6 plows games and can still video/audio encored at the same time.

If this is the case. I may as well just stick with my Xeon for now. Pretty disappointing really.

That's about my stance. I've really not leading to replace my current system. Nothing promising from Intel on the horizon and AMD's offerings would be more of a "side-grade" than an upgrade.

Heck, I'm just hoping I can pick up a 970 through work for uber cheap come winter time. Last winter I could have grabbed one for only $85 but opted not to! Hoping they'll have the same deal this winter. Hoping it'll be paired with Intel's newer DX58 mobo so I'll be able to have 6 DIMM slots, 3 PCI-e slots, USB 3.0 as well as SATA 3.0- such a system would last me another 3 years at least.

Maybe next year Intel will release something awesome? Or the year after that?

Yes, I wouldn't mind USB 3.0 and Sata 3.
