I actually noticed Witcher 2 doing this ever so slightly and consoles are not to blame for that one.

whatever is going on with that dude's video, I'm not sure. Rage isn't that high on my must play list anyways. I'll get it, eventually, but it's easily going to be another month or two before I finish witcher 2 and by that time, SKYRIM and the end of my social life as I know it will be upon me.

Rage may fall into the skyrim playing time sort of how duke nukem forever occupied a couple days of my witcher 1 playing time just to mix things up.

The reviews are worrying for me. My copy still hasn't arrived from newegg and then I go reading stuff like the ars review which doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence in the product. The line in the review that really gets to me is:

Imagine Borderlands with the fun stripped out, or Fallout without actual choice, characters, or consequences.

Yikes.

Some of the complaints can be easily patched by id Software. They can put graphics options in the menu, the obvious tweakability is there (via console commands), texture popping, expand autosaves, etc.

That's sort of a lame review. No sense trashing a game without telling about the otherside of the coin. I mean every game has a head and tail to talk about.

Here's another take:

As a showcase of the new id Tech 5 engine, Rage is a spectacle and a half. Movement in the game feels incredibly slick and precise, there's no clipping and the frame-rate never slows.

It all adds up to an incredibly fun and addictive shooter, which can satisfy pretty much any style of play.

The FPS action at the core of Rage is rock-solid and such fun that it's almost a pity id Software decided to bolt a driving game on top of it.

Rage is a decidedly mixed affair. It isn't perfect, some of it feels quite antiquated, and it is by no means the high-water moment in the FPS genre that Doom and Quake were in their day. But it is still a very eye-catching and incredibly fun shooter, and in its best moments, it can't be matched for pure entertainment value.
