I ve read that most of the reviews that are popping up online, such as the pc gamer review, were written by reviewers who played the game on a machine that was set up at a "review event".
Yeah not exactly real world testing. PC gamer has confirmed that these issues "pop up" (so to say..) for the them when using their computers and the retail release of the game. Link Even console users are having problems with texture pop in. It might just be a permanent feature of the engine.

Texture pop-ups are related to AMD cards. Poor performance too.

what does the usercompression 0 and max cache memory do? assist with texture loading/pop up?

After reading some reviews, it seems like it will be like every other ID game.. An incredibly cool engine tech demo to show us what some other company will eventually take and make a great game out of.
I enjoyed doom 3 but rather than an actual game, it really did seem like just an elaborate demonstration of the technology that was brought to fruition with Quake 4.

ATI has admitted that the driver they put out specifically for rage is bad.

Seems like thats the issue then, if you got an ATI card, just wait for the new drivers today.

This game just don't jump out and say "buy me now".... Looking at the screeners and what people have to say looks like i was right not to purchase.
