Works fine for me here. Make sure after you boot that you run as root "modprobe snd-intel8x0" and then make sure you unmute your sound and raise the volume.

I've got problems to compile the modules from the Nvidia-1.0-4496-package for the new kernel 2.6.0.

When the installer tries to compile the new modules it says that /lib/modules/2.6.0/build/include/linux/modversions.h is missing

This is my only problem when changing to the 2.6.0 kernel, everything else works fine.

Does a valid .config file exist in the tree pointed to by /lib/modules/2.6.0/build? Did you apply the 2.6 patches to the NVIDIA driver?

Try posting the output of the commands you're using.

A valid .config live in the 2.6er kernel tree but which patches and where can i get them?

Last time I tried to compile the modules by calling
CC=/opt/gcc-2.95.3/bin/gcc ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-4496-pkg2.run
because my kernel is also compiled with the gcc-2.95.3

Ok, so i followed the description in the readme-file for 4496 and it doesn't work

I compiled the module with the following commands:

EXPORT CC=/opt/gcc-2.95.3/bin/gcc
make install

And after compiling the whole module I get an error:

version magic "2.6.0 preempt K7 gcc-3.3" should be "2.6.0 preemt K7 gcc-2.95"
FATAL: Error loading nvidia: Invalid module format

If you didn't make a spelling error, then it's a perfectly valid error - notice that the two version magic strings don't match?

I've go a few questions,

1. How do I install the new mod-utils which the kernel 2.6 needs?

2. If some devices dont work how do you get them to work again, reconfigure the kernel?

3.Suse leaves the old kernel source in the /usr/src directory so the nvidia driver looks there instead of the 2.6 folder(error), is it just a case of deleting the old source?

So i did what they says on minion.de and i successfully build and load the nvidia module
