Default Where does this spring belong in my MX518 mouse?

My scroll wheel stopped working so I cleaned the crap out, This spring popped out also.

Mouse still works so maybe I don't need it

Does it click as a middle button though?

I did LOL when I saw this thread. I could just imagine you pulling the mouse apart and it popping out in a comical boing noise.

I think it is for the middle button. I cleaned one of my old mouses and that's what it was for. If I remember correctly it's a bugger to get back in.

The microswitches do the clicking but it could be from there

When I got the mouse open I tried the dyson to suck out the dust, I think something else went in there also... It made that swallowing noise like in a cartoon.

Well the micro switch clicks, but the spring I assume helps the heavy wheel spring back up. Otherwise it might make the middle button overly sensitive. Maybe the spring give the scrolling the bumpy feel?

I found this.
