I just finished it. Abrupt ending. I was hoping for John Goodman's character to return. I'm guessing we will have sequels. Still, last level was a blast. A solid game, now onto Space Marine?

Just finished the game. Some spoilers below:

SPOILERS

Wow, what a waste of $60. Story line and characters were extremely dull, graphics were horrible, even the "art style" is horrible, and the game was extremely short. I finished most of the game in 10 hours. The ending was probably the worst part hands down. Why did it end so suddenly? Why no end boss? The lead of the resistance says "No one has been into Capital Prime and returned alive". Wow, if I could do it, my grandmother could too.

I will say that certain parts of the game were fun as far as gameplay goes. I like the weapons and love the wingstick. Dead City was really the best part for me, I really like the creepy feeling of the place. Only 2 "safe" cities in the entire game? Come on!

id software, I love your old games, but this game seriously proves that you have lost your touch with gaming and the gaming community. You release a console game that is poorly optimized for the PC, with horrible story, characters, graphics and no DM in MP. But you know what? Not only have you lost a true fan of your previous works, but you've also changed a PC gamer over into consoles. No longer will I throw money into something that I don't get the expected results from. Just not worth it.

End of story: Rage is a huge waste of money and time. I'm kicking myself in the balls at least once an hour for buying this game. I really wish I could sell my copy or get my cash back (not Steam credits) and put it towards a XBOX 360. But thank you id software for getting me out of the PC gaming world and into consoles where apparently all game devs are now obviously focusing on. Thank you for wasting my money.

/rant

EDIT: Made this for my rant

I should have purchased GoW3 instead for my 360. Oh well. I'm nearly done with Rage, I'm at the last area.

It's a FPS and the depth comes from choosing the right weapon, ammo and craftables for the job. I'm having a blast just playing with the pistol and my items, much like I play Bioshock 2 with just the drill and plasmids. You have to make full use of wingsticks, sentries and special ammo to really enjoy this game.

I love the enemies. Even the basic grunts are deadly with the way they come at you bro, while the AI might not be FEAR level, their path finding makes up for it. Even the little sentry bot, with the way he will jump and down of objects to get the best shot and follow you around.

I'm hoping the 64bit patch comes with some nice object textures. I'd love to reply it then. It would be nice if you didn't have a blurry book next to a high res character with a amazing mountain texture in the distance.
Fallout 3 has a similar feel, wasteland style and RAGE even has a bobbyhead from Fallout 3.

I would say it's like an arcade version of Fallout 3 but shallow, no depth and linear. The game doesn't require much skill at all either and proves it by giving you a life line with the shock, which is lame.

I just played a few hours but I'm pretty disappointed so far.

The game just don't look that good to me except the animations and some characters expressions.

There isn't much physics, you shoot things and nothing happens, also many static objects.

Missions so far are pretty boring, go there and shoot some enemies. Pretty linear storyline.

I compared this game to Red Faction Guerilla, which imo had better vehicle controls, had much physics and was just more fun.

Is there anywhere I can buy ammo for my weapons/car?

Overall RAGE has the worst Surround support of any game I've tried in a long time.
Well, before the patch, setting hands_fovscale to 1 worked in scaling the weapons in Surround resolutions. I could live with the HUD being on the side monitors. r_dimForceHighQualityShadows also worked in fixing the blocky shadows that show up in Surround resolutions, especially self shadowing on NPCs. Now post-patch both those cvars are locked and cvaradd doesn't work either. The patch overall has reduced the experience of the game for me and I'm going to settle for playing it on my HDTV for now. At least I only paid $40 for this.

I put 23 hours into my first play through, so there's lots of ways to have fun in this game.
