The art direction and overall authenticity of the environments is second to none, I can see why they went with mega-texture from those shots, it's just a shame they made the textures for consoles. Of course you can make environments that look like that with traditional methods, but if it did indeed save them effort and time then the technology is valid in my eyes... maybe next console gen a better adaptation of it will be implemented.

Give this one a shot guys. I don’t know what game the review sites have been playing, but this is one of the most amazing looking games I have played in a long time, and the feel of the engine is right up there with the rest of the ID games. Gameplay is like Borderlands but with more diversity in the missions. Played for a couple of hours tonight and so far this is one of the best games I have played in a while. Maybe the latest patch fixed a bunch of stuff, but I had to do no .ini modding or anything, I just went into the next video options, cranked everything up, and I have nice detailed textures with no popup whatsoever. I can see this one being a good time waster!

The Authority guys look awesome. Amazing detail. When you shoot them, pieces of the armor break and fall off.
