They didn 't port games to the PC like now, so you fail.

Video was funny as hell.

It's because there is no variety in games now. There is no quake, UT, Doom type games out there because they're most military shooters. UT3 was a fail and as said, games are spoiled like that video shows. The Xbox is responsible for this because that's where ports to the PC come from.

LOL, that was good. Though one thing I noticed with the tutorial, Witcher 2 didn't really have a tutorial, and everyone complained, yet they were all PC gamers. Whatever i happening is happening to all platforms.

It's also funny, one of the most old school, Quake like, difficult games out there right now is console exclusive (Dark Souls)

Bit extreme but that video pretty much sums up my disgust with most current PC games.

GLQuake rocked so hard!!! So glad I was apart of that era.

+1

Still remember when I didn't have an internet connection and visited an Internet Cafe to 'write' the GLQuake setup on some floppy disks (long live WinZip). Ah, those were the days. Also, the moment I saw Tenebrae running with all those stencil shadows and lighting, similar to Doom3, I was amazed. Really wish we'll get that 'WOW' factor someday in the future

Been wondering the same thing myself. I'm thinking it's probably the getting older more than anything, but I think games have changed significantly in their design philosophy from being heavily gameplay-focused to being more like interactive movies. Still, there have been some pretty big exceptions this year. Most of them are indie games though.

Yep, games are all about the cinematic moments these days. Because they put so much money into these (scripted) scenes, they have to make the games easy enough for everyone to see them. People wouldn't be happy if they couldn't watch the best part of a movie because they weren't good enough at following the plot earlier on.

Turok was ported to PC as was Tomb Raider. These were before Q2 even. Fail again.

Ports have been around forever, a lot of cheap games that appeared on those shareware discs were ports, like Body Blows (an Amiga game no?) Street Fighter 2 series, Primal Rage, even some of the early sierra and Lucasarts games were developed with a non PC platform primarily. These all had problems, requiring faster PCs than they really should have, bad midi music where the lead platform used a Tracker based system. PS1 ports were often the worst for that Time Commando and FFVII both had shocking midi music where the PS1 versions had decent soundtracks.

My first computer was an Amstrad in 1987, the majority of it's AAA title library were bad ports from other systems like NES, Commodore, Mastersystem.

Moral of the story. Ports have been around forever and kids these days should shut up.
