Default In a 3-screen setup, is it possible to have Xinerama between only 2 of them?

Subject says it all. I usually don't use Xinerama, because I want to switch to different virtual desktops on each screen and because I'm not satisfied with the state of affairs of client software actually working right with it. So I use separate screens or "Zaphod" mode like the Xorg developers call it.

However, I have one 3-screen setup where the middle screen can be switched to a different computer, and there I would like to be able to move clients between screens 2 and 3, while screen 1 should still be independent.

Is this possible? I mean I can possibly do some form of virtual X11 server on top of some subset of the real server, but is it possible directly?
