It's a real f*ck up as Adobe Flash causes this quite often.

Geforce 9500 GT - anything that uses openGL causes 1-3 freezes - the last one is permanent. Driver 275.21. It's a disaster that no one had enough brain to track this damn error and get rid of it

Beta drivers are even worse at this point

Default Re: "[mi] EQ overflowing. The server is probably stuck in an infinite loop."

EDIT: just read the stickies about posting errors - bug report in the attachment

I've tried to increase QUEUE_SIZE in xserver/mi/mieq.c to 2048. The freezes remain, backtrace and EQ overflowing are gone from logs. This happens only when I try to use opengl. Most of time the first freeze occurs 1-2 minutes from starting opengl app. The third freeze is permament - killing the app does not work, killing entire X (from ssh) results in blank black sreen (like ttX), without ability to do anythin (like all input was dead). With beta drivers it's even worse - usually opengl apps produce black screen and the freeze

Tried with serveral games - those from latest Humble Bundle reproduce bug every time. Older games like Gothic1 via wine just introduce a freeze every couple of minutes. What debug info can I send so someone from nvidia would do something responsible and try to fix this? I understand that glitches happen with newer cards but this is a complete disaster - it's almost two years since my GeForce is nothing more than a poor 2d gfx chip and this is pretty frustrating.

EDIT: also I've set Option "UseEvents" "false" in xorg.conf - nothing changed.

I was able to fix this problem by using compressed air to remove dust from my graphics card. I just encountered it again, so I assume that it needs another cleaning.

I can confirm these freezes. It freezes when using KDE with enabled composition or when I'm watching a movie with mplayer2 set to use vdpau. When I disable composition it works like a charm. Changing mplayer's video output to xv also fixes this problem.

CPU: Intel Core i5 520M
Memory: 8 GB (2x 4GB)
Graphics card: NVIDIA Quadro NVS 5100M

Using Gentoo Linux
nvidia-drivers version: 290.06 (also tried 285.05.09, nothing has changed)
X.org server version: 1.11.1 (also tried 1.10.4, nothing has changed)
Linux version: 3.1.0 (using ck- patches)

I will post nvidia-bug-report and X.org log as soon as i will get another computer to be able to connect via SSH to freezed computer. What more information do you need?

Opera freezes for 30 seconds ( CPU not used BTW ), then the desktop freezes, then Opera again, after a while it will work, even accelerated, then it will freeze again, rinse and repeat.

Previous flash 11.1.150 ( or whatever version number ) works ok but not video accelerated, only decoding.

The problem is still there with the most recent driver (290.10) and xorg-server 1.11.2.

I use Gentoo, and the the gui (KDE) sometimes locks up for a few secs, and the computer (xorg) freezes daily. I can ssh into the box, so I made an nvidia bug report:
nvidia-bug-report.log.gz

I haven't experienced this with nvidia driver version 275.43 or lower. XOrg downgrade in itself didn't helped. The Powermizer set to max performance helped maybe, but lock-ups and computer freezes remained. I haven't enabled mtrr sanitizer, but there aren't any uncached regions also.

Card is: NVidia GeForce 8400M G

Edit: Switching to nouveau driver works for me. (Maybe it is not so fast, and doesn't support OpenCL, but for now an X without lock ups and without freeze is OK.)
