Damn it I can't decide if I want to buy it or not...ready to hit the purchase button.

edit: Bleh, I did it. I'm in the mood for some FPS goodness. Wish I'd preloaded, this download is gonna take a while.

Lol. I'm just trying to be nice. Nobody here has really said anything about gameplay impressions here so I figured I would put in my two cents.

I knew how it was going to be...If anyone else is complaining then they must have turned a blind eye to all the gameplay vids....Yes it plays and feels like MW2 which was expected. Yes it looks like MW2 which was expected. This is Call of Duty, if you were expecting anything else then more fool you.

I like it, its not the best CoD (cod4 still has that crown) but it is very good and maybe the best cod since cod4. Had a little play with my cfg, not much to change in there but there are some, adding cvars such as maxpackets, com_maxfps and cg_fov do not work. I did however find that enabling multigpu unlocks the FPS but seeing as there is no maxfps setting trying to play a game that variates from 260fps upto over 1000fps can become somewhat jerky and horrible.

It needs a patch or 2 for a few issues, most noticibly is the horrible lag that seems to turn the mouse into a 2 billion dpi setting for a split second. It seems faster paced than other CoD's walk speed and run speed is quite high but i guess that is down to the fast paced gameplay. The dedicated servers dont have as much editing as i would have liked but i still have to learn a little more about them. Where there is dedi servers anything is possible so with or without mod tools it wont be long before we see a competition mod.

It's not THE Quake 3 engine, but it is based off ID Tech 3. IW made a lot of modifications and it was rebranded IW 4.0 I think. Kinda like Half-Life took the Quake Engine and made it the Half-Life engine which itself was used in other games. (Gunman Chronicles)

Redeeming things about this game.

The campaign is actually better and more varied than MW2 and Black Ops and I would even say better than Crysis 2.

Kill Confirmed is superb. Excellent online mode, sure i've seen it in old games but cannot recall where. It really adds something to the game. Camping over dropped tags waiting for some mug to retrieve them to kill them too.... priceless.

Team Deathmatch is just boring and infuriating at the best of times. I think it's the repetitive boredom that gets to me. Killing a few guys in one bunch doesn't have that warm tingly feeling most shooters do, maybe the dated sound and screen prompts. Who knows.

The 6-12 players part is an annoyance, I could of sworn Black Ops had 18-24 player matches.

Played for 2 hours this morning and got to level 13, pretty fun so far. Yes it looks like mw2but so much smoother and no lag. Enjoyng it so far with many hours of playtime ahead.

The maps are designed for the objective gametypes there is no doubt about that. I have never enjoyed a game of search and destroy as much since cod4. Just a pitty my frickin headset is broken or i could have been playing PCW's tonight.
