Love it so far. It feels like a more refined, tighter Oblivion. At the same time if feels a little more sterile, however the new way NPCs are handled makes up for that. The distant textures are immensely improved, near textures, not so good. Indoors however is where it really shines. Really nice lighting, detailed enemies and some so far clever puzzles. The music is awesome too, far more epic than Oblivion was. It's pretty awesome to take one a bunch of zombies to the chanting from the trailers. it does feel like you crossed the border from Cyrodil into Skyrim.
So far there has been a lot of hand holding, but I'm still in the tutorial town. Levelling, whilst not an XP system, works better I feel than Oblivion, no need to micro managing skill journals etc to get the best level up. Also they have made it easier to level up skills you might no use so much if you want. Also appears classes are out the window. You just play you class as you see fit I guess. I think hardcore RPGers might be put off but the simplifying of the Elder Scrolls system. However I'm finding it much easier to just get in a play without worrying about levelling this skill, then that skill, finding this trainer and that trainer just to level efficiently. I also think those looking for another Oblivion style jump in graphics will be disappointed. It's just a small step up from Fallout 3 graphically. Anyways it's 3:30am, I need to sleep, but can't wait to play some more. |

1920x1080 Ultra settings except 2xAA and 16x AF. I also jacked up the other settings to full in the advanced settings.
The trees and busy polygon areas will bring it down further to maybe the 40's. Trees in the forest might do that. ![]() ![]()

I'm expecting the graphics to be improved, but no overly improved. From the videos, the lighting is the biggest improvement so far (and I would expect this going from a 2006 game to 2011) This is still a console game ported over to PC, so those of us with good rigs will be good from the get-go. No need for next generation hardware.
12 freakin hours!!!!! EDIT: Oh dear God, is that Dragon staring at the camera in your post? I JUST GOT CHILLS!!!! I WANT TO PLAY THIS DAMN GAME!!!!

Is there some way to resize the pics so you can click on them when they're small and it makes them the regular size version?

Been playing this all afternoon and I actually love it.
PC Gamer's 94 was a worthy score. There are a few animation issues when out and about such as stuttering mammoths, but I haven't encountered any ground breaking bugs. The graphics settings are extremely scalable, similar to Fallout NV but also has FXAA options too which is nice. Textures aren't too great close up indoors, but some of the scenery outdoors is superb. The levelling up is actually better than expected. It has far more too it than Dragon Age 2 did, you can customise your character with more depth. The game runs in DX10 which is strange, Frame rate anywhere from 50 upto 120+ depending on where you are but it all feels smooth. SLI usage seems good. Kill moves are awesome, there is an absolute abundance of quests and people to talk to. Far more than I encountered in Fallout NV. Really enjoying it.
