I’ve been incredibly fortunate this season with my roster of review titles. I thought I’d played the best of the best, but I should have known that Skyrim would make me eat my words. I love being proven wrong if it has to do with technical excellence, and this is a prime example. Skyrim completely absorbed me and made me forget the world I live in. My bias alone prevents me from disappearing into it forever, as I am and always will be a lover of sci-fi and space. But despite all that, despite its fantasy and magic, I’m entranced. It was as though a hand enclosed around my heart and pulled, bringing me into a world I’d never bothered to understand. An occasional clipping issue or glitch couldn’t loosen its grip and I was at its mercy. Everything here delivers. The graphics and sound are astounding, the world lives and breathes and every part of the combat and skill system makes you feel like you’re a part of it all.

This is what we all wanted. It’s so refreshing to see what was promised, delivered, and then some. Sons and daughters of Skyrim, I dare you to embark upon a journey of your own and deny yourselves the same snare that caught me.

This is the future I’ve dreamed of.

So I just popped out to Tesco 24 hour store for BF3 and seen Skyrim on the shelf. I couldn't resist and brought it, £10 cheaper as well.

My quick impressions so far:

1) The graphics suck
2) The UI is even worse
3) It's Oblivion 1.1

The game better be amazing in the long run, because right now I'm not impressed. Feels exactly like the console version only less intuitive due to the UI.

Different time zones or people using a VPN to unlock early, which is what I did.

I heard on another forum that its a texture beast on ultra, and it only allows it if you have enough ram, which is 1.7 GB or so? I've seen some screens of over 700+ MB used just on high, so could be true.

Came out here yesterday, Street date break means the national release date bumps forward here. Probably some K-Mart kid put the game out early, thanks to Twitter news spreads fast the the other retailers and publishers who said, yes release it, fine the store who put it out early.
