You know I'm not worried about most of that stuff but I would like to hear about some gameplay and fun factor impressions. Is it easy to get into and stay in to actually finish the game, even if you aren't an ES fan?

So far so good, I've only played it for about 1 hour but combat feels nice, animation is better, third person is so much better than Oblivion. It's what you expect of ES. Fun, yeah you can pick stuff up and throw it, like pick bodies up and throw them off the mountain.

Shadow quality looks like crap. There is no way they are ultra shadows. There should be an option for "Xbox360 Quality" under low.

Edit: Shadowmap size to 4096 helps

Yeah, it's unbelievable. Why the hell can't they just release a friggin' texture pack with their original, high-res artwork? Oh wait, I know...because it might make some console owners sad pandas. *sniff*

The problem with CSAA and MSAA is some of the post processing effects won't be anti aliased since they occur after AA has been performed. FXAA on the other hand is done on the final image before it makes it to your screen. Much less performance hit and still the same IQ.

Not exactly the article I wanted to find but here is a quick summary of FXAA. http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/...g_technology/1

EDIT: Found the article I was thinking of. It was at Tom's Hardware:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...deon,2868.html

Really good read IMO.
I tried using the in game AA in addition to FXAA and it just blurs the screen. I turned off FXAA and enabled 4xSGAA in Inspector and it looks much better. It is a performance hit, but with my cards I'm still in the 90 fps range so I might as well use it.

No, it's not. Most of the people who claim it's the best game ever are people who said the same thing about Oblivion. It's pretty much more of the same, so if you never got into Oblivion I wouldn't buy it expecting to suddenly be amazed. That's not saying you won't like it, but the chances of someone hating Oblivion and then thinking Skyrim is perfect are slim to none.

all true, movement feels way to stiff, character animations seem like a budget game from early 2000s, and combat is whacked.

Yeah, BF3 animation makes everything else suck money balls and Skyrim could have done with that sort of tech.
