If you mainly use your rig for gaming I doubt you'll see an improvement. My 920 is stock and I'm uber pleased with it as is, yours is at 4GHz so I can only imagine how much faster it must be than mine.

But if you've got the cash to spend and are itching to upgrade it most certainly wont hurt performance.

No I do a lot of video encoding with sony vegas and ripbot. both of those peg all 8 cores to 100% the entire processing job. that's actually what I mainly use the thing for. that and audio recording.

I know but I NEVER jump on bleeding edge tech like that... I don't know if the old man wants a new computer NOW or if he can wait a bit but I don't know how long it will take before the x79 stuff starts dropping in price. the i7/i5 stuff has held its value incredibly well.
