Hi,
I've been having this issue for quite some months now, and it's starting to get quite aggrevating, seeing as the crashes are quite random of nature. When I'm playing minecraft, it randomly locks the X server, generates artifacts over the screen, waits a couple seconds, and after a few seconds iust freeze. I AM able to ssh over into the box and restart X just fine though, but my dmesg gets cluttered every time with these errors (these do vary though) Code:
[24190.074025] NVRM: Xid (0000:09:00): 13, 0004 00000000 00009097 00002388 14c20000 00000000 [24192.083868] NVRM: os_schedule: Attempted to yield the CPU while in atomic or interrupt context [24194.083871] NVRM: os_schedule: Attempted to yield the CPU while in atomic or interrupt context [25514.684833] NVRM: Xid (0000:09:00): 32, Channel ID 00000000 intr 80060000 [32721.055902] NVRM: Xid (0000:09:00): 13, 0004 00000000 00009097 000023c8 00000000 00000000 [32721.056674] NVRM: Xid (0000:09:00): 31, Ch 00000004, engmask 00000101, intr 10000000 [32721.063007] NVRM: Xid (0000:09:00): 31, Ch 00000004, engmask 00000101, intr 10000000 [32721.074953] NVRM: Xid (0000:09:00): 31, Ch 00000004, engmask 00000101, intr 10000000 [32721.075889] NVRM: Xid (0000:09:00): 31, Ch 00000004, engmask 00000101, intr 10000000 [32721.075889] NVRM: Xid (0000:09:00): 31, Ch 00000004, engmask 00000101, intr 10000000 The next-to-latest version (beta 1.8.1) didn't make X crash however. I've been searching on google for months, I'm simply said losing hope. I do have another GPU laying around that i could test it on though, but it's quite old(ish). A 9600GT. What I've tried : Disabling Powermizer, fiddling with Xorg.conf, Adding a second PSU to my system, Benchmarking/testing with other apps, different kernel version, different driver versions, ... I'm now going to test nvidia-drivers-260.19.44, see if that works. System specs : Mobo : ASUS M4A89TD Pro/USB3 CPU : AMD Phenom II X4 955BE RAM : 8GB (2x4GB Corsair 16000MHz vengeance) GPU : ASUS ENGTX470 OS : Gentoo Linux 3.1.1

Well, it also happens with 260.19.44 (had to do some hackery to get it to install in 3.1.1 though)
i also took a picture to show what it looks like when X freezes. This time it was particularily nasty It also had different dmesg messages Code:

The shop where I bought the card is allowing me to RMA the card after seeing the photo of the artifacts.
Let's see what ASUS has to tell about the card .
