I hope to have 2 580s in SLI running in the next few weeks. I am coming from 2 6970s in CF mode, and about the only game I play is IL2 Cliffs of Dover. Been running ATI for past many years. Don't know if I will see a big difference in this game or not.
I had a couple of questions. Is there a program to assist with cooling the chips? I understand the cards run fairly hot. Is there a picture somewhere showing the connection between the 2 cards? Should I use both connections in SLI? Thanks. Sorry for the newbie questions. |

1 or 2 connectors is fine, either way works the same....and yes these cards run very warm 80-100C is pretty normal under load with stock heatsinks.
2x580 seems TOTAL overkill ofr IL2 ![]()

Placing more fans in your case can help cool down the cards.

I have 2 580's and they don't get that hot, just use MSI Afterburner and set up a fan profile and you will be fine. Mine is 60 degrees/69% fan speed then 70/70 80/80 and so on.

I have one 580 up and running, but I have an odd problem. The bios screen doesn't fill the whole of the 27" monitor I am using. It's about 2 inches off symmetically all the way around. ?? Same thing when I run memtest. Using a new Rampage IV extreme with the lastest bios. I have checked the bios up and down for a setting here. Any ideas? Thanks.
