Xorg was updated to 1.11, which breaks ABI compatability with the latest nvidia-96xx drivers.
There will be an nvidia-96xx drivers update? broken support? |

Me three! -ignoreABI puts up some legible graphics for a few seconds, bit it doesn't last:

Since it's 96.*, the HW will be old (like mine, :-) ).
So far, from the last few years, if nVidia fixes one thing, they'll break something else, especially for the legacy drivers. And then won't care to comprehensively take care of the issue? Does this mean it was working with all bells and whistles just before you upgraded? What are your MB/GPU configurations? |

I don't want to trash my 6-years-old laptop, it works perfectly besides nvidia drivers.

I'd also like 96.x.x with X.Org 1.11 support. In the long term, would highly prefer that over downgrading, because you can just wait until using an older release of X.Org may fail to fulfill dependencies of some other newer software package...
