I wouldn't worry about PCIe 3 at all. Its backwards compatible anyway, they certainly wouldn't release PCIe 3 only cards when no one has a PCIe 3 mobo yet.

The reason it has transcoding and works better on NV is that carmack originally had a raytracing server farm running on CUDA when it was all the rage to talk about CUDA and GPGPU. Later he found out it was such a PITA that he went back to x86 core farms. However, by that point they had the transcoding algorithm already done for their server farms and had been working the ins and outs of CUDA NV designs for over a year. Has nothing to do with "we worked better with too long acronym team."

Hey Ninja, hows it feel to know Nvidia had WORKING drivers for all to use with SKYRIM the day before it launched and ATI just yesterday, 2 WEEKS after launch, released a driver that will ONLY work for NON-Patched and ONLY owners of the HD6xxx line of cards in CFX? Remember now, Nvidia had WORKING drivers, day before launch FOR ALL CARDS!!!

SLI with everything maxed plus massive AA levels at 2560x1600, very playable.
show far better scaling at a higher res, both of which are playable, sadly for ATI, not so much. Maybe you should try harder, maybe you coud ask Kyle why 2 different benches at thesame res are showing completely different results. AND FYI, SLI working day of launch, ATI, 2 WEEKS LATER!!! Thats all that needs to be said. And SKYRIM isn't the only game has dropped the ball on over the last year.

Because those are using updated nvidia drivers that were not out at time of release. The other set of pictures with no SLI scaling is the benchmark done at time of release.

If you want crossfire to work in Skyrim it's pretty easy if you have radeon pro. It is ridiculous that it is taking AMD so long to give official support though.

Don't ask me why they get two different results with the same driver. Original performance article ridiculed nvidia's sli scaling. I thought they were using a newer driver.

Maybe its the 7 Series mobile GPUS? or low end GPUs? if the launch is across the the board...it will be a pleasant surprise
