^^^ Looking good, and paper launch rumored for Thursday. Which doesn't exactly put it in the "holiday shopping season" but still beats NVIDIA's next gen to market AFAIK.
In and of itself, that means sales for people who don't wish to wait to compare.

Great for them! and more competition. I know that i won't be going back to ATI anytime soon. For the year i owned a 5850, i lost HDMI overscan 3 months (no way to put the overscan to 0 because of a driver bug that kept returning), lost HDMI audio for 1 month (because of drivers) had to revert to older drivers, then new games jerked off... so i still have a bad taste in the mouth about that company but it will probably push Nvidia to release the next series of videocard a little sooner i guess

Hmm... 7900 is probably out of my price range and likely consumes too much power for my tastes.
I'm thinking I may go with a 7800 as that looks to be pretty decent. Should offer a slight bump in performance over my 5870 while drastically dropping the power consumption and heat output. VERY big win for me and likely more in my price range. Really looking forward to their launch. ![]() |

That's pure conjecture on your part buddy, as when i mentioned "bringing the pain" it was exclusively related to releasing these new video cards at 28nm well ahead of Nvidia and outperforming the best single GPU card they currently market by a pretty large margin in my book, just like they did with the 40nm process...See a pattern here?. There were no projections on my part of Nvidia failing as a company period, that's you flat out lying to prove a point, so don't bull**** like that if you please.... Say what you will about AMD's struggles with their CPU division and i'd completely agree, but the graphics division is kicking butt, plain and simple. |

Wow, I guess I truly WILL be happy with a 70x series, considering I am gaming on a GTX 260

Just keep in mind the 80% comes from triple monitor resolutions, where the 580 is on the upper edge of its memory. Still obviously valid, but if eyefinity isn't your thing, don't go expecting 80-90% over a 580 in reviews. 60% is damn good enough for me though!
