Blank screen when switching from X to Console (280.13/Ubuntu)
On Ubuntu Oneiric, when switching to tty1-6, the screen displays only a narrow purple strip at the top of the screen, the rest being blank/black. It seems I can blind type. Also, Plymouth shows similar symptoms (doesn't show, only purple screen).
I have played with different GFXMODE configurations in Grub, but nothing seems to do the trick. I have researched the issue for a few hours now, and have only come up with either outdated solutions, unresolved issues or different setups. Links |

It seems disabling "quiet splash" at boot would do the trick. I'm going to test this further.
