I agree too, but if running on a single monitor i wouldn't think there's any need to upgrade period, as current high end hardware from both brands is more than fast enough to drive just a single display, unless you go for crazy levels of AA on the latest games and/or use 3D glasses and 120 Hz monitors, wich will require the card to kick out FPS values always above 120 Fps for best experience(60 per eye). I have 3 displays too, and play a lot of BF3 so 3 HD7970's?....Oh hell yeah.. ![]() |

There's plenty of games I'm holding off on playing until I get a 7970 and I'm only using 1920x1200. I'm sure a 580 would play these games fine, but something faster will surely hold me over better for the future. I probably won't buy another gpu until the next gen consoles have been out for a 6-12 months. Also, there's always SSAA for those games that just perform too well

i am getting mine cause while i can play certain games fine. i like to up the AA a bit, especially for bf3, i cant use MSAA and the FXAA or fake aa thing it has makes distance stuff all blurry making it a bit difficult to hit people who are next to trees/etc...
is true tho...a lot of power in these gpu's but none of it will be used up properly..which is kinda sad..and i am not ready just yet for multi monitor system |

That's not very exciting. That's (dare I say it?) almost Bulldozer-ish. Sounds like a card destined to wear the single GPU crown a very short time. Replacement in the wings? Like the X1800>X1900 fiasco? When will ATi learn?

I wouldn't say it is anywhere near that bad. I thought it was quite well laid out. After all at this stage it is all just rumors about the 7 series cards. ATI haven't released any concrete specs that I have seen. We will find out soon enough though.
