Default Corsair AX850 enough for 3930K and two GTX 580s in SLI?

Is an AX850 enough for a 3930K and two GTX 580s in SLI? Most people have said yes but some are saying to be careful. Some reviews have showed that two GTX 580s in SLI pull about 600 watts from the wall (the whole system not just graphics cards).

What do you say? Am I safe?

Note: I am actually considering on upgrading to two GTX 680/780s (whatever they decide to call them) when they are released. I am trying to get an idea if my power supply is up to the job by seeing if it can handle my 3930K and two GTX 580s since they probably have similar power consumption.

Should be good for your current build yes. with the 680's/ 780's im not 100% sure the power consumption on those but it should be less than the 580s so you could easily go with that PSU or you could bump it up to a 1KW one to guarantee no issues for the next gen cards.

As long as you aren't pushing overclocking too far you should be fine.

If you believe this:

http://www.geeks3d.com/forums/index....ic,1946.0.html

a pair of GTX 580 cards in SLI can draw over 600W. (That is for the cards alone.)

eVGA recommends a 600W PSU with at least 42A at +12V for a system with a single 580. I don't see an SLI recommendation, but that suggests 900W/67A for two.

(The AX850 is rated at 70A at +12V.)

The AX850 isn't on the certified list for dual 580s:

http://www.slizone.com/object/slizone_build_psu.html

Short version: the AX850 may be adequate fior the system that you suggest, but it doesn't have a lot of margin.
