black screen on kernel 3.1 and 3.2

Hi,

I currently use Ubuntu 11.10 with nvidia driver 285.05.09-0ubuntu0.1

I wanna use linux >= 3.1 kernel, but with it I cannot boot any more - the screen stays black.

i tested it with and without the "intel_iommu=off" command, but no change.

ok.. and now a test with 295.09 - same result

finally I could find a work around:

/etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-graphics-drivers-options.conf

Code:

options nvidia_current NVreg_RegisterForACPIEvents=0

now I could start without a crash

possible it has something todo with the keyboard and screen backlight

both is not working - with 3.0, 3.1, 3.2 ... before I used ubuntu 10.04 and there the keyboard backlight was working normally... but the screen backlight had problems too.
