It looks full of noise up close, but still better then default.

here is a good comparison

and here up close

Also AMD/ATI appears to have huge perf. issues with that detail texture since its cuda transcoding and all...

So all they did was add a film grain effect to cover up the poor textures? lol.

Worked in Mass Effect... Oh wait. No it didn't ::

Actually. In motion it might be ok in RAGE. The screen still to me, look markedly better.

SLI users are still screwed as far as the transcode option, wonderful.

Bought it a while ago but have been waiting for the patch. So, the detail textures are very unimpressive but what bother me more so far are the invisible walls. Is it just me being picky or is the amount of invisble walls really annoying in this game?

Ah, that explains it. I was wondering why my three 7970s would stutter like crazy with it enabled.

Rage goes perform better than pre-patched without the "detail texture" option on. Still have to use a config file to force the 16K texture buffer. It significantly reduces texture pop-in. The only time I notice texture streaming is when I enter a new area. Having 3GB of memory on each card helps.

Tried the patched game last night. Newly introduced option "Texture Detail" (aka bicubic-upsample, sharpness filter or whatever you call it) is mixed bag really.
